As muscles contract, electrical signals are created within the muscle that may be measured from the surface of the body. A procedure that measures muscle activity from the skin is referred to as surface electromyography (SEMG).
Researchers and clinicians use SEMG to evaluate the functional status of skeletal muscles and assist inneuromuscular training and rehabilitation. The small electrical current, or signal, which comes from active muscles, is detected by sensors placed on the skin directly above the muscles. The strength and pattern of the signal is displayed onto a computer screen and the data is collected in a software program that is able to run various analyses of the data to create useful reports regarding muscle function.
The NoraxonUltium is a research-grade Wireless EMG system equipped with high sampling rate & resolution, low baseline noise, versatile SmartLead options, and powerful wireless communication.

Shockwave therapy is a medical treatment that utilizes ultrasound technology to send high-energy acoustic waves into the target area to stimulate the body’s natural healing abilities. At the most basic level, shockwave therapy stimulates new cell growth. These new, healthy cells replace old, weak, or damaged cells.. Shock wave therapy is used for non-invasive treatment of orthopaedic disorders such as tendinopathy and myofascial pain syndromes.
Benefits includes Improved blood flow,Reduces inflammation, Increased collagen production, Reduces calcification, Interrupts the “pain train” & Relaxes trigger points.

The G5 TherAssist is our latest advancement in massage/percussion technology for use in both physical and respiratory therapy applications. The TherAssist is ideal for use in physical therapy, respiratory therapy, and sports medicine applications. This unit features digital solid-state electronic controls. Includes a timer. An expanded cycle per second range (10 – 60 CPS) more closely replicates manual procedures.
Ideal for stress reduction, myofascial release, sports rehabilitation, deep muscle therapy, trigger point reduction, treatment of muscle spasm, pain relief by mobilizing lactic acid, and postural drainage.

USES
Body composition analysis is a physical test that measures the proportion of the various components like water, protein, fat, and minerals of a human body. BARC has developed Body Composition Analyser (BCA) which is used to understand these measures for instant analysis of patient’s health and fitness status. The BCA has been designed to be PC based interactive unit. Analysis is performed in less than 4 minutes which includes bone mineral content and body fat mass. People concerned with health perform regular assessments of body composition, nutrition, hydration and weight management in order to track changes and progress. The Body Composition Analyzer provides solution to their requirement.

APPLICATION AREAS
Low level laser therapy (LLLT) is used by some physiotherapists to treat various musculoskeletal condition. LLLT is a non-invasive light source treatment that generates a single wavelength of light. It emits no heat, sound, or vibration. It is also called photobiology or biostimulation.
Conditions treated using laser
- Osteoarthritis of the knee, hip and ankle
- Rheumatoid arthritis
- TMD
- Shoulder impingement syndromes
- Low back disc degeneration
- Disc herniation
- Sciatica
- Tennis elbow
- Plantar fasciitis

Whole body vibration is a generic term used when vibrations (mechanical oscillations) of any frequency are transferred to the human body. Humans are exposed to vibration through a contact surface that is in a mechanical vibrating state.
With whole-body vibration, you stand, sit or lie on a machine with a vibrating platform. As the machine vibrates, it transmits energy to your body, forcing your muscles to contract and relax dozens of times each second. The activity may cause you to feel as if you’re exerting yourself.
Whole-body vibration may also have a role beyond sports and fitness. Some research shows that whole-body vibration, when performed correctly and under medical supervision when needed, can:
- Reduce back pain
- Improve strength and balance in older adults
- Reduce bone loss

The exercise stabilizer is an easy to use device that provides a visual indication of working the correct postural muscles, in the right manner, when performing specific exercises. For prevention and treatment of back pain, neck pain, and to improve core stability. Provides muscle re-education using biofeedback.
The stabilizer is the gold standard for performing the deep cervical flexion exercise; not only correctly, but to advance in a clear, scientific manner. This provides clear documentation for progression, efficacy, and is important feedback for the patient as well.
It is not only is used for the neck, but the back and other areas like core stabilization as well.

Library as a learning resource
