Faculty of Physiotherapy
A separate Faculty under Dr. M.G.R Educational And Research Institute (Deemed to be university) offers both Under Graduate and Post Graduate course in Physiotherapy leading to the B.P.T. Degree and M.P.T degree and Ph.D.
- Moogambigai college of Physiotherapy was started in the year 1998 under The Tamil Nadu Dr. M.G.R. Medical University .
- In 2003 Moogambigai college of Physiotherapy was transformed into Faculty of Physiotherapy under Dr. M.G.R Educational And Research Institute (Deemed to be university) , in the same year Post Graduate Master Of Physiotherapy (M.P.T) Degree was also started.
- From 1998 to 2003 , 6 UG batches were enrolled and successfully passed out under Moogambigai college of Physiotherapy.
- From 2003 till date, 18 B.P.T batches were enrolled and 13 batches have passed out successfully under Faculty of Physiotherapy, Dr. M.G.R Educational and Research Institute (Deemed to be university)
- 18 M.P.T batches were enrolled and 16 batches have passed out successfully under Faculty of Physiotherapy, Dr. M.G.R Educational and Research Institute (Deemed to be university)
- We offer B.P.T Degree (Duration – 41/2 years), M.P.T Degree (Duration – 2 years) in Orthopedics, Neurology, Cardiovascular and pulmonary, Sports, Obstetrics and Gynecology and Peadiatrics.
- From 2017 PhD in Physiotherapy was also started in which 12 scholars have been enrolled and 7 scholars have successfully completed their viva voce.

- Our Faculty is attached with A.C.S Medical College and Hospital consisting of 850 beds.
- We have MoU’s with various organizations like SPARRC, TECHNOMED ELECTRONICS, SPASTIN, SYNERGY.
- Excellent infrastructure with all latest equipments in the field of physiotherapy.

MISSION
The mission of the Physiotherapy program is to:
- Provide innovative Physiotherapy education at Undergraduate and Post graduate levels.
- To educate Undergraduate and Post graduate students to discover and apply new knowledge in Physiotherapy and relating theory to practice.
- Stimulate research in the various fields of Physiotherapy to influence emerging health care practices and to advance the profession.
- Foster leadership qualities in Physiotherapy practice, education and research.
- To educate Undergraduate and Post graduate Physiotherapists to make them knowledgeable, self-assured, adaptable, reflective, humanistic and as a service oriented individual.
PROGRAM EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES
- Proficient in Physiotherapy fundamentals such as Anatomy, Physiology, Exercise therapy and Massage , Modalities, Diagnosis and treatment, hence capable of being competent and successful Physiotherapist
- Inherit the characteristics of a renowned Physiotherapist in the field of Orthopedics, Neurology, Pediatrics, Sports, Cardiovascular and Pulmonary, Obststrics and Gynecology to assess and render efficient and quality therapy with a social concern
- Exploit critical problem solving skill, applying the recent advancements and trends developed to combat for suitable solution.
- Communicate and compile Physiotherapy data and documents professionally to benefit the society and community to work as a team and exhibit leadership qualities and entrepreneurial qualities.

OBJECTIVES
At the completion of the Bachelor's Degree course in Physiotherapy the student will be able to
- To prepare compassionate, competent and ethical entry-level Physiotherapists, with the skills and techniques necessary for the physical diagnosis, prevention and management of various conditions based on current evidence of Physiotherapy practice.
- To acquire adequate knowledge of the basic medical subjects in the practice of Physiotherapy.
- To develop skills and Physiotherapy techniques such as therapeutic massage and manual therapy, exercise therapy, electrotherapy, specialized techniques in the field of various specialties relevant to Physiotherapy
- To plan and implement appropriate Physiotherapeutic intervention for all clinical conditions related to Physiotherapy in acute and chronic phases, critical care indoor and outdoor institutional care and independent practice.
- Ability to crucially appraise published literature, interpret data and to broaden his/her knowledge by keeping abreast with modern developments in the respective Physiotherapy and thereby enhancing research ability.
- Development of proper attitude for compassion and concern for the individuals and welfare of the physically handicapped in the community levels.
- To develop skills as a self- directed learner, recognize continuous education, select and use appropriate learning resources.
- Ability to inculcate appropriate professional relationship in multidisciplinary set up, patient management and co-partnership basis.
- To demonstrate skills in teaching, management, research, guidance and counselling.
At the completion of the Master’s Degree course in Physiotherapy the student will be able to
