- Secured THIRD PLACE in the Pitch Deck competition at Mega Cultural Fest “AMARA’24” at Dr. M. G. R. Educational & Research Institute University !

- Secured FIRST PLACE in the PROJECT PRESENTATION competition BY THE BIOMEDICAL DEPARTMENT at Dr. M. G. R. Educational & Research Institute University !

- HACKATOM INDIA 2024. Participated and secured FOURTH place in HackAtom India 2024 as part of Team “Omnitrix,” organized by ROSATOM, National Research Nuclear University MEPhI, and the Russian House in Chennai.

- Special Recognition In The National Convention On “Unlocking The Potential Of Artificial Intelligence And Machine Learning – Hackstack (30-Hour Hackathon)” On 6th And 7th November 2024. Organized By The Department Of Computing Technologies, Srm Institute Of Science And Technology, In Association With The Ie(i) Students’ Chapter.

- Achieved a SECOND winning position in the Problem-Solving Event at BIOZONE ’24, a national symposium on “Sea to Science: Innovations in Marine Biotechnology”, organized by the Department of Biotechnology. It was a fantastic opportunity to apply analytical skills and innovative thinking to real-world challenges in marine science.

- Participated in the Hack-A-Thon at Pragyan’25, the International Techno-Managerial Fest of NIT Trichy, in association with Aurigo Software Technologies! INDUSTRIAL HACKATHON.
- Participated as SOLO/INDIVIDUAL in Sandbox 2025 – Cybersecurity Hackathon! Developed a security python package for database named as vaultbase.

- The Department of CSE, along with Coding Club, is proud to announce that around 80 students from the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, Dr. M.G.R. Educational and Research Institute, actively participated in a prestigious Software Hackathon organized by Presidency College, Bangalore. The event focused on impactful themes such as AI for Good, Sustainable Tech, Health-Tech, Smart Cities, and Open Innovation. We are delighted to share that the team comprising Mohamed Shakeel Athar J, R. Karthikeyan, and M. Dinesh Kumar secured 3rd place in the competition and awarded the cash prize of ₹10,000, showcasing exceptional innovation and technical prowess.

Beyond his academic and entrepreneurial pursuits, Mr. Balaji has hands-on experience in handling online fraud cases, having successfully resolved 3 complex cases. Notably, he played a crucial role in investigating a significant University Data Breach, collaborating closely and supportively with the university’s security team throughout the investigation.
In addition, he has demonstrated a strong passion for knowledge sharing by organizing and conducting numerous workshops on Ethical Hacking and Graphic Designing within the university, inspiring many students to pursue careers in cybersecurity and design. His dedication, versatility, and continuous efforts have made him a valuable asset to the university community.
- Got into semi finals two times in IIT innoWAH PALS .This is the flagship innovation competition organized by PALS, where engineering students from various colleges conceptualize, design, and create prototypes of their ideas.
- Balaji Narayanan from 3rd year CFIS has actively participated in numerous events, including both inter-college and external competitions, where he secured 2nd place in a debate competition with a cash prize of ₹500 at our university. Demonstrating his leadership skills early, he founded his own club, Spread Club, in 2022 during his first year. Over the years, he has consistently expanded his knowledge by attending multiple meetups with leading Cyber Security experts and participating in several advanced workshops conducted by IIT Madras. In 2025, he successfully launched his own startup Magical Pixel, through which he has completed over 50 professional projects, showcasing his entrepreneurial spirit and technical expertise. In recognition of his outstanding achievements, he was honored with the Best Non-Technical Entrepreneur Award by the CSE Department on CSE Association Day 2025.
