International Online Conference 2020
The two days International Online Conference (IOC-2020) was organized on 14th October 2020 "INNOVATIONS AND SUSTAINABILITY THROUGH E-STEM" in commemoration of former president APJ Abdul Kalam's dream about environmental protection. The objective of the conference is to create awareness of the current situation faced world-wide and also about the challenges in improving sustainability.
The 2nd National Conference Voltage-2020
The 2nd National Conference Voltage-2020 was organized by the Faculty of Education under the topic and quote: NURTURING THE MINDS OF PROSPECTIVE TEACHERS IN WELLNESS EDUCATION at Phase-II Campus on 6.3.2020. The objective of the conference is to create awareness on productive and proactive mind-set among the young and dynamic teacher students and to manifest a holistic approach in physical and mental health. More than 80 papers were received and 72 selected papers by the peer-reviewers were published in the conference proceedings with the ISBN 9789388568142. More than thirty delegates from various institutions and universities participated and presented the papers.

Virtual Teacher's Day Celebration - 2020
The virtual Teacher's day celebration was well drafted on 09.05.2020(Saturday) at 10.00 AM with 197 participation. The celebration started with the invocation Thamizh Thai vazhthu followed by Welcome address. Next an interesting game Connections was organised for the participants to actively participate. It was absolutely fun filled followed by the game we had a speech about Teachers day celebration. With the same enthusiasm participants very well responded back again followed by the poetry recitation by our student and the lucky draw winners were announced by randomly choosing three of our participants and acknowledged them with a certificate. Also, all our participants were acknowledged with the Teachers day celebration gratitude card.

With colossal pleasure we would like to share the report of the Interdisciplinary lecture on 'Introduction to Oral Health' by Dr.R.Kesavan, Prof. from Thai Moogambigai Dental College and Hospital, on 23.8.2021 that featured the different departments in Dentistry and its functions.
Innovative Teaching Tools
A technology talk on 'Innovative Teaching Tools' by Dr.D.Doreen Robin, founder and Director, Computational Intelligence, Research Foundation on 30.04.2021at 11.00 am was successfully organized.The guest elaborated how Alpha brainstorming can be implemented in the class through stories, questioning, entertaining and referring to current events to make the teaching effective.

A guest lecture on 'Women Emancipation and Enchantment- Prospects' was presented by Dr.P.Sushama Rajan, coordinator, Dept. of Corporate Secretaryship, Loyola College on 29.03.2021at 10.30 am.
Institution's Innovation Council (IIC) Webinar
"Entrepreneurship in Education by Practicing – Practice venture” held on 12/1/2021 at 12.15 pm through virtual portal. "Good Business leaders create a vision, articulate the vision, passionately own the vision and relentlessly drive it to completion”. In order to enlighten the young minds the vision of our founder chancellor this webinar was organised. The guest Dr.Arunkumar, New-Gen, IEDC, Faculty co-ordinator, Dr.A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, COE in Innovation and Entrepreneurship, kindled the spirit of job-creator through the presentation on the start-up ideas, funded projects and patent.
Interdisciplinary Lecture on ‘Diabetes Risk Reduction Awareness Programme’
Interdisciplinary lecture was held on 7.1.2020 at 10.00am in the smart classroom. Dr. Prof. Hema V.H. Principal, Faculty of Nursing, Dr.MGR Educational and Research Institute delivered a lecture on 'Diabetes Risk Reduction Awareness Programme'. The session was useful and informative throwing limelight on the types of Diabetes, Pre-diabetes and diabetes, Healthy food habits, Regular exercises with short term and long term goals, Evaluation of body mass index - BMI on nutritional status, Evaluation scale on Indian Diabetes Risk Score(IDRS). The session on the whole was a useful preventive measure to lead a healthy life.
Technology talk on ‘Basic Statistics’
A technology talk was held on 8.1.2020 at 11.00am in the smart classroom. Dr. Mohana, Assistant Professor, School of Advanced Sciences, Division of Mathematics, VIT, Chennai delivered a lecture on 'Basic Statistics'. The session was useful and informative throwing limelight on the following basic statistical aspects like Measures of central tendency and Measures of dispersion. The session on the whole was a useful one from the research aspects like qualitative and quantitative data collection and evaluation.
e-Tutoring
B.Ed I year students attended e-tutoring on ' The Effective Use of Smart Board ' on 14th October, 2019 in the smart class room Phase II campus. The resource person Mrs. V. Thenu Priya, PG Assistant, Department of Computer Science, JRK Global Senior Secondary School, Kattankullathur, Chennai, elaborated the use of smart board and how a teacher can be smarter while handling the students in the usage of smart board. It was an interesting and informative session.

Polio Pulse immunization programme
We are gratified to share the report of 'Polio Pulse immunization programme, which was administered by the Faculty of Education, B.Ed. I and II year students of Dr.M.G.R. Educational and Research Institute in association with Urban Health Centre around Chennai on 3rd March 2024. Nearly 68 B.Ed. students joined hands together along with NSS Rotary and Lions club volunteers.

The Faculty of Education is happy to celebrate the birthday of our Founder Chancellor, Thiru Dr. A.C. Shanmugam, by giving us the opportunity to do a service for the needy by distributing clothes to them. The greatest use of a life is to spend it on something that will outlast it. 25.9.23 and 26.9.23 students of II year B. Ed contributed to the poor with compassion, which led to the successful completion of this generous act.

Pulse Polio Immunization Drive
The mass vaccination drive initiative by the Government against Polio was held on Sunday (27.2.2022) for the children aged below 6 years old against pulse polio. The camp was organised in bus stands, railway stations, public gatherings and in the primary health care centre all over India. As a societal responsibility the students from1st year B.Ed. participated in the camp of intensive pulse polio immunization drive with enthusiasm at the places like Mogappair East and West, Athipet, Andaman Nicobar Islands, Kerala, Avadi, Ambattur, Thiruvanmiyur and in and around Chennai, close to their residence.
Planting 101 Saplings
'Planting 101 Saplings' in commemoration of Founder Chancellor's Birthday celebration was organized. 100 saplings of trees and medicinal plants were planted in the garden, park and highways and the last sapling 101st was contributed by our honourable President and was planted in the main campus. The ISR event on 24.9.2021 started at 10:00 a.m.
All the Children Children's Home Visit
Faculty of Education along with NSS team feels so blessed to share the unforgettable moments experienced on 19.03.2021 with the children of the home. Those children were from streets, Orphans and Semi Orphans.
Pulse Polio Camp 2021
Tamil Nadu 17th Oral pulse polio immunisation campaign drive was set on 31.01.2021.The World Health Organization (WHO) recommends all children be fully vaccinated against polio. The first year and second year students of Faculty of Education (B. Ed.) participated in this weakened polio virus given by mouth (OPV) campaign as the Institutional Responsibility with full of enthusiasm and excitement.
Community Service to ‘Children’s Home of Hope’
A Community Service held at "CHILDREN'S HOME OF HOPE " on 10th August, 2019. The service was facilitated by Dr.V.N.Rajavarman, Deputy Dean with prayer at 9.30am. We offered note books, snacks and stationary items as a token of love. We also conducted programmes like Singing, Games, Drawing, Antakshari etc. Winners were awarded by the gifts. We also got hand craft return gifts which was made by them. So totally it was wonderful day for everyone.
Community Service to Anandam – a Free Home for Senior Citizens
On 4.1.2020 as an inception of the year 2020, we payed a visit to Anandam - A free home for senior citizens, a public charitable trust at Kallikuppam, Ambattur, Chennai 53 as a first ISR event. Thirty one students from first year B. Ed. and five faculty members were part of the programme in cleaning the home and had compassionate interaction with those housemates which engraved an emotional memory. A small contribution from the management, faculty members and students of first year B. Ed. was given to the trust.
Pulse Polio Camp 2020
B.Ed first year students from Faculty of Education, Dr. M.G.R Educational and Research Institute attended and actively participated in the ‘Pulse Polio Camp’ at various centres in Chennai and rendered their service in the societal responsibility event on 19th January, 2020.

We are delighted to share the report of orientation programme on how to initiate UN SDG Projects through IGEN which was jointly organized by IGEN (The Institution of Green Engineers) and Faculty of Education, Dr. M.G.R Educational and Research Institute on 21st August 2023, 11:00 a.m. at K101 Smart Room, Phase II, Adayalampattu Campus with B.Ed faculties, research scholars and 2nd year students . The resource person of the day was Prof. Dr. L.Ramesh, Joint Registrar, EPA, Dr.M.G.R Educational and Research Institute. He gave an introduction about UNSDG’s 17 goals.

Deeksharambh Student Induction Program was organized between 11th Dec 2020 to 31st Dec 2020 from10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. The 15 days student induction program was designed in such a way to make the students feel comfortable, sensitize them towards exploring their academic interest, activities and in-building the bond between the faculty members and students.

The Induction Programme commenced on 9th September, 2019 at 9.30 am. Parents and students of B.Ed gathered in large numbers to witness the grand inauguration. The programme began with a prayer song followed by welcome address, introduction of the faculty members, briefing of the course and best features of the University and finally with Vote of thanks. It was an enlivening experience for both parents and students.

'A one day national level symposium ' versatile action to stimulate the innovative tenacious attitude - VASITA '19 - ' A creative splash on 27.9.19. Ms.Stella Pauline Punitha, Principal , CEO , The Schram Academy , was the guest of honour inaugurated the symposium and released the souvenir VASITA '19. Dr. G. Gopalakrishnan, Provost delivered a special address on the responsibility of the teachers. 153 students from 14 different colleges and nearly 20 students from three different schools from junior category participated with full of zeal. It was highly motivational for all the students.

A comprehensive theory of Self-Actualization
Self-actualization is the final stage in the linear growth of an individual, which is the highest level or stage in Maslow's model of human motivation: the 'Hierarchy of Needs', so a subject lecture on ‘A Comprehensive Theory of Self-Actualization’ was handled by Dr.P. Senthamizh Pavai on 05.02.2021 at 10:00 am through Google Meet. The students were benefited through the lecture in realising the importance of self-actualization that as individuals have to possess a number of characteristics that enable them to act based solely on our personal drives and the effect of societal pressure.
Language for Specific Purpose (LSP)
]Language for Specific Purpose (LSP) is a widely applied approach to second or foreign language teaching and training that addresses immediate and very specific needs of learners who need that language as a tool in their education, training or job. In order to expose the concept of LSP to the B. Ed. students a subject lecture was facilitated by Dr.V. Anuradha, Assistant Professor, Faculty of Education was organised on 27.01.2021. The students gained knowledge about the new concept of Language for Specific Purpose.
Inculcating Ethical Values
Subject lecture was delivered on 24.1.2020 at 11.30 am in the smart classroom for I & II year B.Ed students. Dr.P.Senthamizh Pavai, Assistant Professor, Faculty of Education, Dr.MGR E&RI delivered a lecture on 'Inculcating Ethical Values'. The lecture was loaded with power drawing attention, motivation and developed self-confidence in the minds of the participants to achieve their dreams.

Professional Society Event – 'Citizenship Camp'
The first and second year B.Ed students attended ‘Citizenship Camp’ on 29th January, 2020. Mr.K.S.Suryanarayanan from Saint John Ambulance Service, explained on the principles and practices of First-Aid and also he gave a deep insight about different types of injuries and their managements. On 30.01.2020 the morning session was handled by Mr.M.Naresh Kumar from Evergreen Fire Service for Fire and Safety Measures, Chennai who explained about the fire extinguisher and demonstrated how to use it in case of emergency. Thus on the whole citizenship camp enabled to acquire knowledge about the life skills, as well as provided a service oriented mindset to those who need it most.
